4. PRODUCTION APPLICATION PROCEDURES
NOTE: Settings for one machine
may not necessarily apply to other machines even if machines
are identical brands, models, etc. Set up of each machine is
normally required.
A. After proper bonding is obtained, prepare
a sewn seam of the type planned for actual production. At no
time should a silicone spray or other type of lubricant be used
anywhere that might come in contact with seam area of fabric
or tape. Presence of any silicones or lubricants will prevent
adhesion. All threads must be cut flush. Be very careful not
to crease fabric or seam tape. This could result in forming a
channel for water to follow, causing a leak. After sample is
prepared, check taped seam for hydrostatic resistance. Fabric
with sewn and taped seam should be clamped in a hydrostatic pressure
tester and tested at 3PSI for 2 minutes (2 meters), This is sufficient
for virtually all intended uses.
B. Use the oldest tape first to maintain
inventory procedures. If stored according to directions, tape
should remain usable for many years.Unlike some other seam tapes,
with Seam Seal seam tape there is no automatic expiry date.
C. After seam has been taped, do not fold
item or allow tape to come in contact with anything else until
tape has cooled. Otherwise, unintentional bonding may result
which could damage the item.
