Most fabrics used in the manufacture of technical outerwear, tents and various other products combine water repellency or water proofing characteristics with breathability and moisture permeability. These properties are directly incorporated into the fabrics and coatings, however water will soak through the stitch holes created when seams are sewn in the fabric. (Fig 1 a). To prevent water from leaking through the sewn seams, sealing (Fig 1 b) of the seams is required. This is most easily and effectively accomplished using a compatible seam sealing tape. |
